Abstract

Televisi memainkan peran sentral dalam membentuk pandangan, pola pikir, dan nilai budaya masyarakat Indonesia, terutama di era globalisasi. Pengaruh ini sangat nyata pada kalangan remaja yang sedang membentuk identitas budaya mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana televisi Indonesia mereproduksi dan menyebarluaskan nilai-nilai budaya dominan melalui tayangan-tayangannya, serta mengkaji dampaknya terhadap keberagaman budaya lokal dan pembentukan kesadaran kolektif masyarakat. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi literatur, penelitian ini menyoroti bagaimana televisi berfungsi sebagai media dominasi budaya, khususnya dalam menampilkan budaya perkotaan dan gaya hidup Barat. Representasi budaya lokal sering kali dikemas dalam bentuk yang dikomodifikasi, terutama dalam sinetron dan reality show. Tayangan-tayangan tersebut membentuk nilai dan identitas generasi muda, memperkuat persepsi bahwa budaya dominan adalah standar ideal, sementara budaya lokal cenderung terpinggirkan atau direpresentasikan secara stereotipikal.
