Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas peran media dalam meningkatkan pemahaman komunikasi antar budaya di era globalisasi. Dengan berkembangnya teknologi dan media digital, pertukaran informasi lintas budaya menjadi semakin cepat dan luas. Media, terutama media sosial, memainkan peran penting dalam memperkenalkan budaya asing dan memfasilitasi dialog antar budaya. Namun, di sisi lain, media juga dapat memperkuat stereotip negatif melalui proses framing yang bias. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif untuk menganalisis bagaimana media dapat menjadi alat yang efektif dalam menjembatani perbedaan budaya, sekaligus mengidentifikasi tantangan yang muncul. Beberapa teori yang relevan, seperti Teori Pengurangan Ketidakpastian dan Teori Akomodasi Komunikasi, digunakan untuk mendalami proses komunikasi antar budaya. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa media sosial meningkatkan kompetensi antar budaya dengan menyediakan platform interaktif, sementara media massa melalui digitalisasi memperluas akses ke konten budaya global. Namun, tantangan seperti stereotip, etnosentrisme, dan informasi yang salah tetap menjadi penghalang utama dalam membangun komunikasi yang efektif antar budaya. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan keterlibatan kritis dan literasi media yang baik untuk memaksimalkan peran positif media dalam komunikasi lintas budaya.
